BATESVILLE – March 13, 2017 – Alisha Branscum, Computer Lab Aide at Sulphur Rock Magnet Elementary School, was named Monday as the March 2017 recipient of the “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award” for the Batesville School District.  The presentation was made at the School Board meeting held at Sulphur Rock.

The Above & Beyond program, created in 2012 by the bank and the district, recognizes employees for exceptional service to students, parents, their school, peers and the district. 

‘Red Hot’ Luncheon Supports Women’s Health for a Dozen Years

BATESVILLE – March 10, 2017 – The 2017 Red Hot Ladies Luncheon will be held Friday, April 7, in Independence Hall at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville to raise awareness about how heart disease, stroke, cancer and other issues impact the lives of women. 

About 300 women are expected to attend the annual event, which includes a popular silent auction and luncheon, capped by an informative presentation designed to promote good health.

BATESVILLE – February 21, 2017 – Shelley Pfitzner, Speech Teacher/Pathologist at Eagle Mountain Magnet Elementary School, was named Tuesday as the February 2017 recipient of the “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award” for the Batesville School District.  The presentation was made at the School Board’s meeting at the Batesville Junior High School.

Main Street Pottery Owners ‘Double Down’ Through Citizens Bank’s Impact Grant Program

BATESVILLE – January 20, 2017 – Karen and Jeff Bailey are maximizing a $5,000 grant they received through the Citizens Bank Impact Loan and Grant Program to revitalize the retail space they own in downtown Batesville.

In fact, the Baileys appear to be “doubling down” on their investment – and there’s more to come.  Their primary business, Main Street Pottery, occupies the back portion of the building at 309 East Main Street, and has now been joined by the relocation of Denim Blues, a clothing store that recently opened in the front of the “L”-shaped structure.

Grant Program Helps Spruce Up Hail Building, Downtown Batesville

BATESVILLE – November 9, 2016 – The historic Hail Building, at 231 East Main Street in downtown Batesville, recently got a facelift with assistance from a $5,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Impact Loan and Grant Program.

The building, home to Elizabeth’s Restaurant & Catering, needed its huge front windows to be repaired and repainted; plus, property owner Ron Lewallen decided to add a spiffy awning to improve the building’s appeal.

New Auto Repair Shop Not Just A Foreign Concept

BATESVILLE – September 14, 2016 – Operating a foreign car repair business in historic downtown Batesville might seem like a foreign concept to some, but not to Al and Sarah May, owners of May Auto Repair.

The new shop specializes in servicing and repairing foreign vehicles, including Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota, Lexus and others.  “We are trying to build that clientele,” said Al May.  “We do everything we can: diagnose, computer, mechanical, electrical – everything but tires.”

A New Landmark is Coming to Batesville!

Construction will begin in early 2017 on a new five-story, 60,000-square-foot Citizens Bank headquarters building in Batesville. Positioned on one of the highest points in town, the structure will provide sweeping views of the community where Citizens Bank was founded more than 60 years ago.

“This new building will be a visible sign of Citizens Bank’s commitment to the community,” said Phil Baldwin, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited, too, about providing numerous opportunities for local subcontractors and laborers during the construction phase.”
