I provide financial solutions to poultry growers across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. I spend a great deal of time developing relationships with growers, poultry integrators and other members of the industry so that I can better asset to my customers and the Bank.
How/Why did you get into the banking industry?
I never intended to be in banking but I had someone I respect reach out to me as I was approaching college graduation. I took a leap of faith and quickly became engrossed in poultry lending and never looked back.
What is a DRAIN within your role?
Keeping up with ever-changing policies, guidelines, market conditions, and all other factors that go into making quality credit decisions.
What is a DRIVER within your role?
Knowing that if you put in the work to understand the poultry industry, banking, and your customers, the result is a relationship where everyone wins.
What do people assume about your role that isn't true?
Making a poultry loan is not just punching numbers in a computer. Each borrower has a unique goal or need that requires a custom-tailored loan. Taking the time to create that loan product is the key to success for the grower and the Bank.
What would you say to someone who doesn't think a banking career is for them?
If I, a small town guy from Pumpkin Bend, Arkansas, can make it, anyone can. It just takes initiative.
What does Beyond A Banker mean to you?
It means developing a personal, meaningful relationship with customers. I strive to bring something other than just financing to the equation.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
I love entertaining and cooking for friends and family.
When/Where are you happiest?
Spending a day outside cooking and being with my family and friends or outdoors hunting or fishing.
What show(s) are you currently binge-watching?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Where is your favorite (local) place to eat? What is your go-to order?
Rober - Benton, AR; Whatever the ribeye special is that week
What is something that you wish you had known earlier in your career?
I wish I knew that things are never as bad or as good as you may think. It is easy to get overwhelmed when things aren't going according to plan. The opposite is also true, when something seems too good, it likely isn't all it is made out to be. Your mentors have been through the highs and lows, rely on their experience to keep you grounded.
