Summarize what you do in your role.
My role includes building relationships in the community, providing individuals and businesses with capital or deposit needs, and serving the community by giving back with my time and energy.
How/Why did you get into the banking industry?
Courtney and I had just moved back to Hot Springs from Orlando in 2011. A family friend told my parents about a job opening in loan processing at a local bank so I applied. I didn't know anything about loans or banking for that matter but knew it could be a good career opportunity for me.
What is a DRIVER within your role?
I have the opportunity to be a small part of the growth of a business by providing the capital they need or deposit solutions to create more efficient workflow.
What do people assume about your role that isn't true?
My kids would say that I give away money all day. Still teaching them how banking works! Most of the time, people assume I only lend money when I'm involved in deposit needs as well.
What does Beyond A Banker mean to you?
Being a banker is transactional. We take deposits and provide deposit receipts. Someone applies for a loan and we get the paperwork ready. Beyond a Banker is about relationships. It's about knowing your customers and their families. It's about giving your time to customer's and the community that have little to do with banking.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
Aside from spending time with family, I'm most passionate about playing golf, fishing and sports.
When/Where are you happiest?
I'm happiest when I'm spending time with my family whether it is hanging out in the pool, at the beach, fishing or watching my daughters do what they love to do.
What show(s) are you currently binge-watching?
I don't watch anything outside of sports: football, basketball, baseball and golf.
Where is your favorite (local) place to eat? What is your go-to order?
My favorite place to eat is La Hacienda and I usually get the Brocheta's La Hacienda.
What special/interesting skill do you have that others might not know about?
I love playing guitar but I'm a long way from Santana!
What is something that you wish you had known earlier in your career?
Being uncomfortable is where growth happens. Embrace it.
