BATESVILLE – February 15, 2013 –Citizens Bank recently provided the funding to allow Batesville Junior and Senior High Schools to replace the pads on the automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) that are located at both schools and at all sporting events in case of a cardiac emergency.
Keith Shireman (center in photo) of White River Medical Center Sports Medicine, who also serves as athletic trainer for Batesville High School, shows off the AED equipment to Angela Wilcoxon, Vice President and Director of Loan Review at Citizens Bank, and Batesville High School Football Coach Dave King.
Citizens Bank previously provided the AEDs to the Batesville schools and the pads need to be replaced every two years.
With simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman, and the use of AEDs is taught in many first aid, first responder, and basic life support level cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes.
