BATESVILLE – October 4, 2013 – As the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves golfers compete for the 2A Boys State Golf Tournament in Conway next Tuesday, they will step up to the tee box equipped with colorful golf bags provided this season by Citizens Bank.
Batesville and Southside golfers have likewise been sporting new bags and shirts that Citizens Bank has supplied. The Pioneer and Southerners programs also benefited by $750 to each school from the proceeds of the 2013 Citizens Bank Seniors 18-Hole Two-Man Scramble, which was held in May.
“Golf is a growing program in our region and Citizens Bank is proud to help our local high school teams as they strive for district and state titles,” said John Dews, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to have sponsored the season-opening Citizens Bank Pioneer Invitational High School Golf Tournament in August.”
First-year Batesville Coach Jeremy Cude said he is encouraged by the improvement of his Pioneer golf team this season and the support he has received from corporate sponsors including Citizens Bank.
“We are excited about our sponsorships, which help us purchase many needed items throughout the golf season,” Coach Cude said. “Without support from our sponsors, it would be much more difficult to take care of all the needs of our student athletes. We are extremely grateful.”
Cedar Ridge Coach Kevin Arms is excited about the state tournament and his team’s future since most of his top players are underclassmen.
“We won our district tournament by 11 strokes; we shot 248,” Coach Arms said. “We shot 46 strokes better than we did in last year’s district tournament. We were led by freshman Taylor Ford (80) and junior Ethan Weaver (81), both of whom were named to the all-district team. We thank Citizens Bank for all their help.”
Southside Golf Coach Terry Watson said his team played through a “roller coaster season” with two players – freshman Maigan Johnson and senior Wyat Gambill – qualifying for the upcoming 4A Girls and Boys State Golf Tournaments in Little Rock.
“The Southside golf team appreciates all the help that The Citizens Bank has provided for us,” Coach Terry Watson said. “We walk with pride down the fairways – and sometimes in the rough – carrying our blue-and-gold golf bags provided to them through the banks’ generosity.”About The Citizens Bank
