BATESVILLE – April 21, 2014 – Sylvia Lovell, an employee of the Batesville School District for more than four decades, was named today as the April 2014 recipient of the “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award” for the Batesville School District. Mrs. Lovell, who is currently Secretary at Eagle Mountain Magnet School, has also worked at Batesville Junior High School, East Elementary and the Kindergarten Center.
Citizens Bank and the district two years ago created the award to recognize school staff members who go “above and beyond” in their service to students, parents, their school, peers and the district. Personnel at all schools nominate recipients of the monthly Above & Beyond award, which includes a certificate from the Board of Education and a $50 gift card from Citizens Bank.
More than a dozen nominations were received for Mrs. Lovell, all citing her commitment to the district, students and, teachers, and her upcoming retirement. Some sample comments:
- “She has been an ambassador for the district and is very deserving of this recognition.”
- “Ms. Sylvia is more than a secretary. At any given time, she might be a guard, protecting our children and staff; a nurse, providing care to sick children; an encourager to students and staff; or the person in charge, when both of the principals are away.”
- “Others may be able to do her job, but nobody can ever replace her.”
