BATESVILLE – February 18, 2013 – Paul David Barrett, a sixth grade teacher at Eagle Mountain Magnet Elementary School in Batesville, was named today as the February recipient of the “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award.” Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District created the award to recognize school staff members who go “above and beyond” in their service to the district.
Personnel throughout all schools nominate recipients of the monthly Above and Beyond award, which includes a certificate from the Board of Education and a $50 gift card from Citizens Bank.
Several forms recommending Barrett for the award mentioned his involvement with his students and his leadership in after-school activities. According to one nomination, “He spends almost every recess and prep time helping students who are struggling. Mr. Barrett is quick to volunteer at school and in the community.” Another nominee wrote, “He is always willing to help meet the needs of situations that arise on any given day that affect the emotional, social and academic needs of students and staff.” Barrett also serves as a volunteer with the Sulphur Rock-Moorefield Fire Department and is an alderman on the Moorefield City Council.
