BATESVILLE – November 18, 2014 – Nina Brokaw, who is responsible for Credit Recovery, Remediation and the Yearbook at Batesville High School, was named Monday evening as the November 2014 recipient of the “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond Award” for the Batesville School District.
Citizens Bank and the district three years ago created the award to recognize school staff members for exceptional service to students, parents, their school, peers and the district. Personnel throughout the district nominate prospective recipients of the monthly award, which includes a certificate from the Board of Education and a $50 gift card from Citizens Bank.
Nominations recommending Ms. Brokaw for the November award cited her positive attitude toward her job as well as her compassion and commitment to students. Some sample comments:
- “She has an exceptionally kind heart for disadvantaged students and takes those who are struggling under her wing to help them get back on track for graduation.”
- “Nina and her family have even taken a student into her home on a permanent basis to provide him a stable environment.”
- “Check out our yearbook. Nina works extra hours to raise money to keep the cost of the yearbook affordable to students and helps with layout and design – all for no extra pay.”
