BATESVILLE – July 8, 2014 – Citizens Bank today moved a step closer to laying the physical foundation for its 10-year plan to strategically grow into a regional banking organization, based in Batesville, by seeking out acquisition and expansion opportunities.

Citizens Bank has acquired property along South St. Louis Street (between Case and Lyon streets) that will allow long-term planning for the future, including the bank’s plan to play a more assertive role in the growth and development of the region.

“The Citizens Bank has been headquartered in downtown Batesville since our founding in 1953,” said bank President Phil Baldwin.  “We remain committed to downtown Batesville and will be strategically involved in the important efforts currently underway to revitalize the downtown area.”

No specific plans or timetable have been established for how or when Citizens Bank might use the property it has acquired.

Citizens Bank has served the community of Batesville and Independence County for more than 60 years, with current assets of $550 million, and branches in Batesville, Cave City, Imboden, Mountain View and Pleasant Plains.
