When will I receive my COVID-19 Economic Impact Payment?

According to American Bankers Association, more than 130 million payments are expected to be made to eligible Americans via ACH in the first three weeks in January.

If you filed taxes in 2019 and included your bank routing and account number for payments or refunds, and this information has not changed, the IRS has the information it needs to send your payment electronically. In addition, for Social Security recipients, the IRS will use direct deposit by the Social Security Administration to facilitate payments. If the direct deposit information you have provided in the past is for a bank-issued prepaid debit card, you will receive your funds on that card account.

You can check the status of your payment by visiting the IRS "Get My Payment" web tool. Recipients will be mailed a check if the IRS does not have your information on file. Check payments will follow weeks or possibly months after the direct deposits are sent.

Citizens Bank receives direct deposit/transactions from the Federal Reserve at 7am, 11am, and 4:30pm each day. It is best to check for an anticipated deposit directly following these time periods throughout the day.

Citizens Bank offers many ways to keep an eye out for incoming deposits. The easiest way to know when your deposit has arrived is to sign up for Deposit Alerts using your Digital Banking account. See directions below.



  • Login to Netteller/Digital Banking at www.TheCitizensBank.net.
  • Choose “Settings” Tab Across the top
  • Choose “Alerts”
  • Choose “Events”
  • Choose “Receiving Incoming ACH Credit”

  • Verify the email address listed and then, choose “Accept”.
